Byron F. Murphey, another descendant of Wilson Murphy of Butler County, Alabama, wrote and published this article in the Alabama Genealogical Society Inc. Magazine, Spring/Summer 2000 issue.  It is with his kind permission and the help of the AGS that this article appears here on the Alabama Homing website. 

Woody Murphy, another of Wilson's descendants, transcribed the article in its entirety and graciously allowed me to use his work, thus saving a great deal of time and effort.  This has turned into a family project, although the family members have never met.  Note our variant spellings of our name.

Wilson's Note

In 1871, Wilson wrote a note to the courthouse clerk, requesting him to cancel a mortgage note that Wilson held against Seaborn Moore's crop, land and stock.  (See an abstract of the mortgage deed).  The note was attached to the margin of Deed Book N, page 300, when it was microfilmed:
